Mission and Major ResponsibilitiesOur mission is to provide accurate information and data to meet federal and state reporting requirements as well as to provide data analysis that supports and guides the operational and strategic decisions of the university.
Compliance: In response to the increased need for public disclosure, the Office of Institutional Research and Data Management (IRDM) maintains a section that responds specifically to both state and federal requirements. See Compliance & Student Right To Know. Ethics: Staff is committed to ethical practices and standards in activities and decisions. The Office adheres to the guidelines and provisions set by both the Association for Institutional Research and the NCES Guide to Ethical Data Reporting.Internal Reporting: Internal data, trend analysis, and marketing research provide the university community with information to support recruitment, retention, and graduation. See Dashboard and Facts & Figures. Internal Surveys: Recurring and on-request internal surveys are designed to help UNO maintain quality customer service and address student opinion and needs. See Surveys. National/Professional Surveys: Results from national or professional surveys are disseminated to the university community about trends in higher education. See Surveys. Required Reporting: Many reports are mandated by federal and state government, the University of Louisiana System and Louisiana Board of Regents, accreditation associations and selected data exchange agencies on a scheduled, systematic basis.
