IRDM Office Policies & Guidelines

FERPA Guidelines. University of New Orleans AP 51.01 sets forth university policies and procedures pertaining to the maintenance of Educational Privacy Rights of Students.  The Office of the Registrar serves as the official Data Steward of education records. 

Requests for individual information on admissions testing scores - such as ACT, high school GPA, financial details regarding grants/loans - must be approved by the Registrar and in some instances the offices of Admissions or Student Financial Aid.

Protection of Individual Information. UNO’s public reports will exclude any category based on 10 or less students. This follows U.S. Department of Education reporting guidelines.

Requests from Graduate Assistants. If GAs make requests on behalf of departments, results will be sent to the department chair or responsible faculty along with original request from the GA’s request.

Requests for Students Lists from External Agencies. Requests from external agencies such as national honor societies and outside associations (such as Becker Professional Education, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Solomon Amendment) will abide by the following guidelines:

  • Registrar must approve the request.
  • Data must be filtered according to FERPA.
  • Data will be returned to the responsible person making the request.
  • Requests from Alumni Association will follow FERPA guidelines.

Social Security Numbers. Social Security Numbers will not be released by IRDM except as legally required.
