& Data Management (IRDM)>
Institutional Research & Data Management Office (IRDM)
206 Administration Building
NEW!!! If a request asks for individual student information, it must be routed through the Registrar to assure FERPA compliance.
This office follows the FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts) privacy mandates. IRDM does not release individual student information regarding financial need or admission type. See the Registrar's Notification of Rights Under FERPA and Administrative Policy 51.01 "Privacy and Access to Student Records.
Please let us know if information will be used to comply with an official report, such as program accreditation, grant reporting, or informational update for a departmental meeting. This guides us in selecting the best source. Data for accreditation purposes should come from UNO's official census data while a departmental status report might need the most current information.
How can a request that sounds so simple be so complicated?
Typical question: What is UNO's enrollment? What IRDM needs to know
? Is this overall university enrollment or by individual college/department
How IRDM accesses data
We access multiple PeopleSoft databases. Each semester the Computer Center freezes a "data slice" on the 14th Class Day and moves it into a separate database. The 14th class day is UNO's official census day and it used to ensure the consistency of all mandatory reporting (system, state, and federal). IRDM also use production ("live") data. Production data is real time data that changes as offices add or update information.
